The Samsung Galaxy S25 series has launched with an exciting upgrade to its camera filters, taking inspiration from Apple’s iPhone 16 Photographic Styles. These new filters offer granular control, allowing users to fine-tune the mood and aesthetic of their photos. Unlike traditional Instagram filters, they give a more personalised editing experience.
The redesigned camera app on the Galaxy S25 includes 10 default filters, such as Breeze, Pulse, Crystal, Chill, and Shadow. You can also download more filters through the Galaxy Store. These filters work in both Photo and Video modes, though they aren’t available in Portrait mode directly. However, once you’ve taken a portrait photo, you can still add filters using the Edit option in the Gallery app, and the filters apply to all photos in the gallery, including screenshots.
Samsung’s new camera filters offer a higher level of customisation than previous models. Users can adjust the Strength, Color Temperature, Contrast, Saturation, and Film Grain for each filter. Notably, the black-and-white filters—Shadow and Shade—don’t support the Strength, Contrast, or Film Grain adjustments.
These filters are similar to iPhone’s Photographic Styles, offering a more flexible and creative way to edit photos. Adjustments can be made via sliders, and you can save your settings for future use. If you make a mistake, simply press the undo button.
The Galaxy S25 camera filters are available across all three models in the S25 series. However, this feature is not part of One UI 7, and the latest beta on the Galaxy S24 does not include the new filters. It’s still uncertain if Samsung will extend this feature to older flagship models.
