Global security and technology leader Thales has joined forces with Wales Tech Week 2025 as a Silver Partner, marking a significant step in strengthening Wales’ reputation as a thriving hub for digital innovation, cybersecurity, and tech talent.
The highly anticipated international summit will return to the ICC Wales from 24–26 November 2025, building on the momentum of the 2023 edition, which attracted more than 4,000 attendees, nearly a quarter of whom travelled from outside Wales. This year’s event aims to further establish Wales on the global technology map, showcasing cutting-edge applications of emerging tech across industry, government, and society.
Thales’ involvement is grounded in its growing presence in Ebbw Vale, where its high-tech facility is leading development in cybersecurity for critical national infrastructure. Initially launched through Welsh Government-backed programmes in partnership with regional universities, Thales’ Welsh operations have since evolved into a centre of excellence for digital skills, secure technologies, and innovation-driven growth.
The Ebbw Vale site now serves as a cornerstone of the local tech ecosystem, housing advanced laboratories and fostering partnerships that drive employment, regional supply chains, and secure digital transformation. Thales’ investment in skills and research is not only reinforcing Wales’ innovation economy but also advancing the UK’s capabilities in national security and digital resilience.

Avril Lewis MBE, Managing Director of Technology Connected, the organisation behind Wales Tech Week, welcomed the partnership, noting:
“The collaboration between Thales and Wales Tech Week underlines a shared commitment to building an innovation-led, secure, and sustainable future. Together, we’re creating an ecosystem where cybersecurity excellence and tech talent can thrive.”
Justin Walker, Vice President of Digital Solutions at Thales UK, echoed the sentiment:
“At Ebbw Vale, we’re developing cybersecurity solutions that protect critical infrastructure globally. Partnering with Wales Tech Week allows us to connect with like-minded innovators and deepen our contribution to the dynamic Welsh tech community.”
On its final day, the summit will feature Talent4Tech, an immersive career event aimed at addressing the surging demand for skilled professionals in the tech sector. Thales, a longstanding advocate for tech talent development, will showcase its initiatives, including degree apprenticeships, graduate schemes, and work experience programmes designed to build future-ready careers across its UK sites.
Wales Tech Week 2025 is free to attend and will focus on three core themes: Tech for People, Tech for the Planet, and Tech for Performance. With Thales joining an impressive roster of partners and speakers, this year’s summit promises to be a pivotal moment for Wales’ growing digital economy.
