Samsung has taken another bold step in the ultra-premium TV market with the launch of the world’s first Micro RGB television. Measuring a colossal 115 inches and boasting an entirely new backlighting system, the Micro RGB TV represents a major shift in how large-format displays deliver colour and contrast.
A New Standard in Display Precision
Unlike traditional Mini-LED or OLED panels, Samsung’s Micro RGB display uses micrometer-sized RGB LEDs, each less than 100µm, to achieve unprecedented accuracy in lighting control. The result is deeper contrast, improved HDR performance, and colour reproduction that covers the full BT.2020 colour gamut, certified by the Verband der Elektrotechnik (VDE).
As Taeyong Son, Executive Vice President and Head of R&D for Samsung’s Visual Display Business, explained:
“Micro RGB achieves unprecedented precision in the control of micrometer-sized RGB LEDs, raising the bar for colour accuracy and contrast in consumer displays. With this launch, we’re setting the standard in the large-sized, ultra-premium TV market.”

Powering the Experience with AI
At the heart of the new system is Samsung’s Micro RGB AI Engine, which analyses content frame by frame to optimise both picture and sound. The set also introduces Color Booster Pro, designed to enhance weaker tones and bring vibrancy to every image.
Complementing the new hardware are Samsung’s latest software features, including Vision AI for accessibility, Matter-enabled smart home control, a generative AI version of Bixby, and an industry-leading seven-year Tizen OS upgrade guarantee.
Practical Innovation
For all its technological sophistication, Samsung has paid attention to practical concerns too. The Micro RGB TV comes with a Glare-Free anti-reflective coating, ensuring bright-room performance and improved viewing angles—areas where large TVs often struggle.
Market Position and Pricing
With an estimated retail price of $30,000, the 115-inch Micro RGB TV is clearly positioned in the luxury tier. Launching initially in Korea and the United States, Samsung has confirmed that smaller sizes will follow, opening the door for wider adoption of Micro RGB technology in the coming years.
Looking Ahead
While some may note that Micro RGB is still fundamentally an LCD panel with a backlight, its leap in precision over Mini-LED—with as many as 6,000 local dimming zones—makes it a serious contender in the battle for premium display dominance. For now, the 115-inch model will be a statement piece for early adopters, but it signals Samsung’s ambition to make Micro RGB a new benchmark in the industry.
