BOOX is taking ePaper reading into a much smaller format with the launch of Picco, a card-sized eReader designed for short bursts of reading throughout the day.
The 3.97-inch device is the first product in BOOX’s new Tiles lineup, a new category intended to take ePaper beyond traditional tablets and eReaders. Weighing just 58 grams, Picco is designed to slip easily into a pocket or bag and provide an alternative to reaching for a smartphone during spare moments.
A New Approach To Everyday Reading
Rather than trying to replicate the experience of a larger eReader, Picco has been designed around convenience and portability.

BOOX says the device is aimed at commuters, travellers and readers looking to make better use of the small gaps in their day, whether that is waiting for a train, standing in a queue or taking a short break.
Its compact footprint is roughly comparable to a playing card, making it considerably smaller than conventional eReaders and easy to carry alongside everyday essentials.
A 3.97-Inch ePaper Display
At the heart of Picco is a 3.97-inch monochrome ePaper display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and 235 PPI.
The screen features built-in adjustable front lighting, including warm and cool colour temperature settings. This allows users to adapt the display for different environments, from brighter daytime conditions to reading later in the evening.
BOOX has also incorporated anti-aliasing technology to help keep text sharp and legible on the compact display.
Touch Controls And Physical Buttons
Despite its small size, Picco offers several ways to control the reading experience.
Users can navigate through the touchscreen or use physical page-turning buttons positioned on the device. The screen also supports four-way rotation, allowing the reader to be held in different orientations.
The combination of tactile controls and a compact design is intended to make one-handed reading easier, particularly when the device is being used while travelling or waiting.
Designed To Work Alongside Your Phone
One of Picco’s most distinctive features is its magnetic case.
The included case incorporates a magnetic ring that allows Picco to attach to the back of a compatible smartphone, meaning the phone and eReader can effectively travel together.

The concept gives readers access to a dedicated reading screen without having to carry a larger eReader separately. The magnetic case can also be attached to other magnetic surfaces, including a fridge, giving Picco uses beyond reading.
Storage For Thousands Of Books
Picco is designed to carry a substantial digital library despite its compact dimensions.
The device comes with a 16GB microSD card and supports expandable storage of up to 2TB. Books and documents can be transferred using the BOOX Tiles app, through the web or via USB-C.
The device supports a range of popular eBook and document formats, while Wi-Fi and Bluetooth provide additional connectivity.
More Than Just An eReader
BOOX has also given Picco a small selection of productivity tools.
The device includes Pomodoro, Todo and Countdown applications, allowing it to be used for focused work sessions, quick reminders and countdowns as well as reading.
A minimalist operating system keeps the experience focused on reading and utility rather than the constant notifications and visual distractions associated with smartphones.
Users can also personalise the device with custom screensavers, including photographs, artwork and quotes.
The First Of A New BOOX Lineup
Picco represents the first release in BOOX Tiles, which the company describes as a new branch of lifestyle companions and ePaper products.
The launch signals an attempt to explore where ePaper can fit into everyday life beyond traditional tablets and dedicated eReaders.
For BOOX, the idea is simple: make reading small enough, light enough and accessible enough to become part of the everyday routine.
BOOX Picco Pre-Orders
BOOX Picco is now available for pre-order through the official BOOX Shop, with pricing starting at $99.99. The company expects the device to begin shipping by November 2026.
