A flagship electric SUV
Genesis has revealed the new 2027 GV90, a flagship electric SUV that brings together luxury design, advanced technology and powerful electric performance. The model is expected to arrive in Australian showrooms during the first half of 2027, giving the premium automotive brand a new presence in the growing luxury electric SUV market.

Positioned at the top of the Genesis range, the GV90 has been developed to offer more than simply an electric powertrain. The vehicle combines a spacious luxury SUV format with a technology focused interior and a collection of features designed to create a distinctive experience for both drivers and passengers.
A distinctive new design
The Genesis GV90 introduces a number of design features intended to set it apart from conventional luxury SUVs. The range topping Neolun model features rear hinged doors, creating a particularly striking entrance to the cabin while reinforcing the vehicle’s premium character.
Another notable feature is the roof mounted airbag, which has been designed to provide additional protection across the glass roof panel. The feature highlights the attention Genesis has placed on combining the visual appeal of a panoramic glass roof with advanced safety technology.
The overall design reflects the direction of Genesis as it continues to develop a more distinctive identity within the premium automotive sector. The GV90 has been created to feel substantial and luxurious while retaining the clean appearance increasingly associated with modern electric vehicles.
Technology at the heart of the cabin
Inside, technology takes centre stage. A large OLED display spans the dashboard and brings together the vehicle’s instruments, navigation and multimedia functions.

The screen is designed to offer more flexibility than a conventional dashboard display. When the vehicle is parked, it can be raised and used to stream entertainment, turning the cabin into a more versatile digital environment.
A generative AI powered voice assistant adds another layer of functionality. The system is intended to make interaction with the vehicle more natural while demonstrating how artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly integrated into the latest generation of premium cars.
For passengers, the emphasis on technology also contributes to the GV90’s focus on comfort and entertainment. Rather than treating digital features as secondary additions, Genesis has incorporated them into the overall cabin experience.
Powerful electric performance
The Genesis GV90 is powered by two electric motors producing a combined 490kW and 800Nm. This gives the large SUV considerable power while maintaining the benefits of an all electric drivetrain.
The vehicle is fitted with a 123.5kWh battery and has an estimated range of 500km. Genesis says the GV90 can charge from 10 to 80 per cent in a claimed 22 minutes when connected to a 350kW DC fast charger.
Fast charging will be an important consideration for buyers choosing a large luxury electric SUV, particularly those using their vehicle for longer journeys. The GV90’s combination of battery capacity and rapid charging capability is therefore designed to make electric driving more practical alongside its premium positioning.
A changing luxury car market
The arrival of the Genesis GV90 comes as established luxury car manufacturers and newer electric focused brands continue to compete for buyers looking for premium electric vehicles.
The segment is becoming increasingly focused on more than range and performance. Buyers are also looking for sophisticated interiors, seamless digital technology, advanced safety features and distinctive design. The GV90 brings these elements together in an attempt to create a luxury SUV that feels as much like a technology platform as a traditional premium vehicle.
Genesis is also using the model to demonstrate how its approach to luxury is evolving. The combination of an expansive OLED display, generative AI technology, advanced safety features and a powerful electric drivetrain gives the GV90 a clear focus on the future.

Looking towards 2027
With its Australian launch planned for the first half of 2027, the Genesis GV90 will be one to watch as the luxury electric SUV market continues to develop.
Its combination of performance, technology and premium design demonstrates how manufacturers are increasingly redefining what customers can expect from a luxury vehicle. Rather than simply replacing an internal combustion engine with electric motors, the GV90 has been conceived around a more connected and technology driven experience.
As Genesis prepares to bring its flagship electric SUV to market, the GV90 could become an important showcase for the brand’s vision of the next generation of luxury motoring.
